BOTTOM COASTING was composed as part of a residency project at Media Study Buffalo to create new works for an empty swimming pool space in the Media Study basement.
Ralph Jones, Bill Viola, and Yoshi Wada also produced works for the pool.
Bottom Coasting is a combination of a self-playing filter circuit that responds to frequencies and envelopes of the pool space and continually generates material. Along with the filter is a series of CMOS circuits that create a sweeping drone-like chorus that rings the resonant nodes of the pool space.
