CYBERMESA

CyberMesa - is a work commissioned by the Merce Cunningham Dance Co. for the dance work “Breakers” (choreographed by Merce Cunningham).  “Breakers” was commissioned for the Boston Ballet as part of the Ballet Commissioning Project of the John F. Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts.

It received it’s U.S. premiere with the M.C.D.C. at the City Center (NYC) March 11, 1994, and was premiered with the Boston Ballet at the Kennedy Center in Washington D.C. March 22, 1994.  Both with performers John Driscoll and D’Arcy Gray.

The work was also performed with the Boston Ballet during their 1995 season - performed by composer Neil Leonard.

It makes use of two “fishing pole” microphones that play the resonant nodes of the space, and a combination of sound sources which are manipulated in the space using an electronic panning device.
