The dC Motor instrument uses A Single module with an  ultrasonic mic, speaker, and reference oscillator to create the ultrasonic feedback loop.  the rotating motor is controlled by a  knob that regulated the speed and direction of the foil.

SPEAKING IN TONGUES is a sound installation using a series of novel ultrasonic sound instruments that function as sonic puppets.


These instruments use small physical movements that disturb an ultrasonic feedback field and create audible sound as a result of that movement.


They have various forms of user interaction from controlling the movement of the foil reflectors with both manual gestures or joysticks, or midi controllers, to touching a spring and setting it moving or blowing on the foil reflector.

The dual servo instrument uses one module with an ultrasonic mic and speaker to create the ultrasonic feedback loop.  the second module contains an arduino micro-controller and two servo motors in a pan/tilt configuration.  The dual servo is manipulated by a joystick controller.

The animated foil instrument useS one module with two  ultrasonic mics and speakers to create a double ultrasonic feedback loop.  the second module contains an arduino micro-controller and a single servo motors to manipulate the shape of the foil.  The animated foil is manipulated by a joystick controller.

The SPRING FOIL instrument uses one module with two ultrasonic mics and speakers to create a double ultrasonic feedback loop.  the second module has a spring with a foil reflector attached which is activated manually, or by blowing on it, to move the foil  (Which can vibrate for up to two minutes).
