This page is one of many points of entry and departures.  A more general context for the larger arc of Composers Inside Electronics <a href=\"https:\/\/composers-inside-electronics.net\/cie-wp20\/\">here<\/a>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"Shared_Convolution_Prototype\"><\/span>Shared Convolution Prototype<span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">As of this writing July 2026, working with Jakob Edelstein, we have taken an idea of a model of an audio signal applied to a resonant object and produced a prototype web app accessible &#8230; <a href=\"https:\/\/convolution.composers-inside-electronics.com\">Shared Convolution<\/a> <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">This virtual model is a descendant from work with David Tudor, John Driscoll, Rainforest and CIE from the early 1970&#8217;s.  The original physcial in-real-life origin was a series of performances and installations using audio transducers connected to resonant objects as a fundamental means of establishing spatial sound field.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The basic idea from Rainforest is a sound source is applied via a transducer to a resonant object this emits a localized sound and can be used for imput to amplification or further processing. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">With the advent of readily available software based convolution reverbs around 2010, the technology offered a new set of possibilities. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The <em><a href=\"https:\/\/convolution.composers-inside-electronics.com\">Shared Convolution <\/a><\/em>prototype allows a visitor to scan a QR code and access a web application that allows selection of an audio sample file, the &#8220;impulse&#8221; from a resonant ovject or space and select either single or automated play.   Ths latest realization involved rapid prototyping using Gemini and Claude for code generation. The web app allows a users to select an audio &#8220;sample&#8221; fie from a predetermined library, am &#8220;impulse&#8221; from a separate library and hear a single play or automation of variations in an automated mode. Related development prototypes includee:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>message based on user activity sent to influence the sound field and motion of sculptural objects<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>access to smartphone and table interial motion unit (a.k.a. gyroscope, acceleromter, compass) and smart phone microphone, GPS, <\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>interactions between users &#8211; for instance, characteritic of he sound modified by coordinated gesture of the users.
