We have a collection of sketches and works by artists Tom Ditto, Greg Anthon, Phil Edelstein and various collaborations. The common ground is our interest different ways of seeing and hearing that evolves from creative exploration of scientific understandings applied through technology as a creative palette.

With Tom Ditto’s sudden passing February of this year, we have here a collection of his early creative work in video in juxtaposition with materials from his scientific work. The explicit science here starts with his patent for range finding using diffraction through the evolution and application for discovery of exoplanets as shown through his later videos about the science.

Greg Anthon contributes from his work from scanning electron microscope & pinhole cameras.  He seeks to slow down time, and to simplify an image to bare essentials: a gesture, a palette of color, a gestalt. The effects in these images are achieved entirely in-camera with the use of long shutter speeds even in bright sun.

Phil Edelstein brings latest variations on recent sketches, ephemera, follies, and chimeras mostly with interactive algorithmic co-generation of sound and image. This comes along with a fabrication suggested by Tom originating in the Pulfrich effect mashed up with other kinetic and optical elements.

The works will be shown from August 1 through August 31 (or Sept 1 to be determined).
